Scholarship Program Application

Information and Guidelines

The Robert E. Bachus, Sr. and Dora W. Bachus Family Scholarship Program awards scholarships to the direct descendants by birth, marriage, or adoption of Eliza Dennis Bachus Woods or Monroe Logan, Sr. and Dora Powell Logan.  These scholarships are competitive and awards are based on merit.  Each scholarship stipend is a one-time award made every other year. The 2014 award is in the amount of $1,200.00.

The program is administered by the children of Robert E. Bachus, Sr. and Dora W. Bachus.  Awards are granted without regard to family financial circumstances, race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

The application deadline is June 21, 2014.  The program details are outlined below.

Eligibility Requirements 

Applicants for a Robert E. Bachus, Sr. and Dora W. Bachus Family Scholarship must:

  • be a direct descendant by birth, marriage, or adoption of Eliza Dennis Bachus Woods or Monroe Logan, Sr. and Dora Powell Logan;
  • have a 2.5 or better cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent:
  • be a  2014 high school graduate, or undergraduate freshman  who enrolls as a full-time student at an accredited college or university for the entire 2014-2015 academic year. 

 

Award Criteria

The winner will be chosen on a competitive basis by evaluating several factors:  

  • academic record;
  • work experience;
  • participation in school related activities (student government, music, sports, etc.), community activities, and offices held;
  • career goals and aspirations.

 

Key Dates

June 21, 2014: deadline for receipt of application

July, 6, 2014: 2014 winner announced at the Logan-Powell Family Reunion.

Award may be used for tuition, books, supplies, and room and board expenses
